Echo requests

Please fill out this form when requesting an Echo, then post it to this entry. The request will be dealt with as soon as possible.

When requesting an Echo induced by a past-life parallel/recurrence, please demonstrate clearly the similarity between the events, as well as the relation between the events and what is returned.

Please keep in mind that any echo must be triggered by experiencing something for the first time (unless it is a plot echo) and that recurrence echoes may not be gained off-screen: At least the initial trigger must take place in a thread or toplevel. In addition, we always want to hear the answer to three questions: 1. What was echoed? (under "What is returned?"), 2. What triggered the echo? (under "Reason for Echo"), and in case of recurrence echoes 3. Why did it trigger the echo (parallel)? (under "What is returned?").

Reason for Echo: What caused the Echo, whether it be by a plot-related trigger, a person or a canon recurrence. For the latter, this must be unusual enough to have been the first time the character has encountered it, and strongly resemble a specific event from canon. Picking up a can of baked beans from the store will not cause an Echo if it isn't any different than the times the character has done it before.

This will not have any impact on physical appearance, and it is very likely that neither one of them will notice anything has changed. The only obvious effect is that the D-Arc they received in the last echo will activate and connect them.

In their canon when digimon (who exist as programs in the the Digital World) enter the real world, they go through a conversion where their data becomes infused with false proteins and they take a physical form in the real world. Takato, likewise, was converted into data when he entered the digital world and later chose to become at least partially data in the real world.

Physical change: Enhanced durability. Human tissue has limits for adaptation, and with his strength still increasing, this will eliminate the risk of snapping his own bones should he use it all. It will allow him to be hit by a moving vehicle and get up without significant injury (ie a forklift). It should be noted, he can still be knocked unconscious by those impacts.

Reason for Echo: Plot echo from the glitter bomb
What is returned: The memory of standing on top of a closed-up, domed city in the middle of the ocean, prowling around the top looking for a way in, in his winged form. He pauses to look down and out, and he's able to fairly clearly see the ships made of moss below, and the camp on the nearby island. This comes with Raksuran vision: a vastly improved distance vision (meant for spotting prey to dive on from above), with a distinct focus on movement (again, prey), and decreased vision for people/items up close (blurry + wider blind spots). He'll wind up needing reading glasses which will only sort of help :D

Reason for Echo: Canon recurrence--Stone showing Torin how he's turned gray, as in canon, the Kyoryugers fight a Debo Monster that drains its victims of their color, and it is ultimately defeated by the color gray--namely, Kyoryu Gray was already gray and had no color to be drained.
What is returned: Memory of fighting a Debo Monster, Beautiful Zorima, which drained the color of its victims. Torin's involvement was to come in after the monster had grown to building size, bringing in Gigant Bragi-Oh as the cavalry. (He's in a giant sentient dinosaur robot and spandex and everything is super colorful and what even is the monster, we just don't know.)

...also his Japanese is Very Bad and largely limited to bits and pieces picked up from promotional events and international conferences and all the context in the world isn't really going to help him understand what the hell, to be honest.

... Thought: if the dormouse tries to talk with Walter, this might not need be a plot Echo at all. The Misters escaped causing this Echo due to still looking human.

Shinichi's and Ran's memories of a scene from the Murderer Kudo Shinichi arc, when Shinichi,disguised as a forest spirit, enters the room where everyone is confronting an imposter Shinichi. He steps in front of Ran to protect her, kicks the gun out of the imposters hand, the other teen detective in the room reveals the imposters trick, and Shinichi removes his disguise and reveals himself.

Jimmy also echoes back Shinichi's taste for drama (and silly found costumes) as a character trait.

Reason for Echo: Because she's explored the tunnels and found hidden ways to get into them before, she was asked to lead the other Numbered inside and promised lots of ice cream for it, the amount of which she tried to haggle. Part of getting them in there was to do so stealthily so nobody would get in trouble.
What is returned: She used to be her team's scout, which meant getting a scoop of the place ahead of time and then using it to get the team into the places they broke into on routes that were both as safe and as stealthy as possible. This being her job, she was paid for it, half the time not in money but in goods (like food, shelter, knowledge, actual items...). haggling is a fairly normal part of shadowrunner transactions, too.

She received back the knowledge that this is her job, complete with a number of professional knowledge like how to best get into buildings and how to extrapolate the routes of guards from watching only part of their routines.

She also regained the way in which shadowrunner!Kitty moved: Where before, she moved more or less like any active child would, she now moves very quietly and fluidly and without more movements than necessary.

Hiya, I have a fairly outdated request to make.

Part of my interest in cr with Chad was the hope of a memory echo or two about the Annoying Dog from Undertale. We've had a good few threads with them, but for various reasons our threads were either dropped before the on-screen interaction reached a moment where I felt justified in requesting an echo, or else they were threads where they were already getting an echo for a plot reason - that didn't involve the dog.

Looking back, I think I was being overly cautious about when I felt justified in requesting memory echoes. There were some chances I could have asked, and probably been permitted. Since we're starting up again, I figured now's the best time to give it a shot before putting the idea to rest.

So I looked through my thread history, and found a plausible moment: the moment when when Russell first learned that Chad was sentient. Would it be possible for me to do a backdated echo from that moment, and use a DET to get two silly moments of the Annoying Dog hassling Papyrus? If it's necessary that a DET be from around the time of the echo, I had a DET in the October 2018 activity check that I didn't use until April 2019.

These echoes wouldn't retcon the way Russell came to bantering and bickering with Chad, but him having those memories would make sense to me as a component of why they fell into that dynamic.

He's in groundling form, because his winged form won't fit, but Moon, River, and the others are all in winged form, so he can look around and see other Raksura. He knows they're down here to hide from attackers in the control chamber high above on the creature's surface, and as part of the quest to find and restore the colony tree's heart seed.

What is returned: Three sets of contacts complete with cases, instructions and contact solution. They are coloured brown to hide her eye colour and have the functions smartlink (visual controls for guns), image connection, and infrared sight. In canon, those contacts were what granted her sight, or "sight" (through overlaid pictures of the room thanks to the image connection) in complete darkness.

What is returned: The memory of exploring an underground area that at first just was old storage but beyond that area contained a place that held some sort of abandoned, tainted scientific area with a contaminated knot in it. She's not alone during this; there are some other people with her, and she knows that they are werewolves. The memory breaks off as they enter a room holding something evil, but she doesn't know what.

Also the ability to alter her own physical stats (make her lungs more effective, make herself stronger...) which she used to cope with the bad air down there.

What is returned:
Power: Magic necessary to link to an animal. Forging a connection with an animal through this magic allows her to maintain that creature’s youth and vitality while increasing the natural intellect to at minimum basic sentience. In turn, that animal can monitor her location and status, rouse her from hibernation, and even trigger regeneration of her physical form.

Ability: Total regeneration. This unconscious magic allows for a complete reconstruction of her physical manifestation. Even if reduced to ash, her magic can piece her body back together and then rapidly repair to her natural state. This does not provide her with any enhanced healing until her body is in a state incompatible with life.
